Plans and pricing
Free for Personal Use
All Kodachi editions (Binary Suite, Terminal, and Desktop) are completely free for personal, educational, and research use.
Only commercial, professional, or organizational use requires a paid license.
Free tier access policies may apply (fair-use controls).
Kodachi is built for the reality of modern digital life, where your assets, wallets, identities, and personal data all live online and require serious protection. From first boot, it delivers a hardened environment with privacy, security, and operational tools already integrated and working together. What Kodachi ships as a complete system is something you simply will not find prebuilt in another operating system, and that confidence comes from years of integration work. It does more than protect you: it teaches better habits, reveals how the stack works, and gives real control from day one.
*Every license, free or paid, funds the same continuous development: security updates, bug fixes, and new releases for the whole Kodachi community. Paid reports are triaged first, on a best-effort basis (this does not constitute a service level agreement). Kodachi does not run a one-to-one help desk; the documentation is built deep on purpose, so most answers are a search away.
Instant license key delivery. No account required. Activate in the dashboard (About, then Premium License); a valid key creates a signed, device-bound entitlement that is automatically verified on later starts. You can also view status, release a seat, and reactivate on a new device. Annual license, 12 months of all updates. After expiry your last ISO keeps working; renew to continue receiving updates and paid managed-node access.
Annual license, covers 12 months of all updates, including across major versions. After 12 months your last ISO keeps working; renew to keep receiving updates and managed-node access.
No email required - license key displayed on-screen. For full anonymity, select Monero (XMR).
Feature and Backend Comparison
Premium nodes are intentionally capped to low occupancy to avoid peak-hour congestion. Dedicated plans run on fully isolated VPS instances with reserved resources. Paid plans choose which of their nodes to use in the License Portal, with live per-node load shown. Picking a single node keeps your exit address predictable, and also makes it easier to link your sessions together, so the default stays random across your plan's nodes.
Choosing your node (Premium and Dedicated)
Paid plans decide which managed node serves them. Open the License Portal, paste your key, and the "Your Nodes" panel lists every node your license can reach with its country, exit IP, live load, and which one is serving your device at that moment. Tick the nodes you want and save. It applies on the next connection from that device; a session already running keeps the node it was given.
Premium
Selects among the premium nodes, and may also select the free node. Default: a random premium node on each connection.
Dedicated
Selects among your own isolated nodes, and may also select premium or free nodes. Default: your own dedicated node only.
Free
Uses the shared free pool. Access runs downward only: a free device can never reach a paid node.
If your chosen node is full, a switch decides what happens. Left on, you are moved to another node inside your own plan and stay connected. Turned off, the connection is refused rather than quietly moved to a node you excluded. Fallback never crosses into a tier you did not select.
Worth knowing: pinning one node keeps your exit address predictable, which helps with services that dislike changing IPs, and it also makes your sessions easier to link to one another. Leaving the choice open spreads you across the pool and gives you a larger crowd to blend into, which is why random across your plan remains the default. Full details in the FAQ.
For government, defense, law enforcement and critical-infrastructure operators
When Your Infrastructure Is the Target
Modern adversarial operations regularly target digital infrastructure across both the public and private sector. Power generation and distribution networks, water systems, rail and air transport platforms, hospital networks, financial market infrastructure, telecommunications carriers, seaports, and government regulatory bodies have all been documented targets of sustained, methodical cyber operations. These are not theoretical scenarios. They succeed most reliably against systems that were not built with operational security as a design requirement, and the organizations affected typically recognize the exposure only after an incident has occurred.
Kodachi is a hardened privacy and security operating system built from that premise. From first boot it delivers encrypted VPN and Tor routing, DNS leak protection, AppArmor and Firejail sandboxing, full-disk and container encryption, a threat watchdog (health-control), and a three-tier emergency response including secure identity wipe. These are not optional plugins or post-install configurations. They are integrated, active by default, and designed to reduce the attack surface that a standard, unhardened OS leaves exposed. No operating system can guarantee absolute security, and Kodachi makes no such claim. What it does offer is a default posture substantially more defensible than a bare Linux or Windows deployment, and the controls to manage that posture directly.
Dedicated, isolated infrastructure
a VPS reserved to your organization. No third-party traffic, your own exit IP, and resources that are not pooled with other customers. This tier is appropriate for law enforcement units, military and intelligence teams, telecom and regulatory authorities, power and utility operators, hospital networks, financial-infrastructure operators, and any other organization for which network isolation is a non-negotiable operational requirement. Minimum 5 devices, maximum 100, annual license. By default all your devices (up to 100) run on a single isolated VPS with a default country and provider. If you want a specific country or provider, or want to isolate groups of devices on separate servers, your plan lets you split into up to one VPS per 10 devices, each provisioned in a country and provider of your choice (for example 20 devices on one server and 10 on another).
Choice of exit country and provider
on the Dedicated tier you select the exit country and infrastructure provider, aligning your network egress with your operational needs, your jurisdictional constraints, or both. You are not bound to a shared node pool operated by a third party, and you retain the ability to change that selection as requirements evolve.
Custom builds for your organization
your tooling and configuration, delivered as a cryptographically signed and deployable Kodachi ISO. If you require specific tools, pre-installed workflows, or configuration hardening beyond the default stack, a bespoke build can be produced for you. Available by arrangement; contact me to discuss scope, tooling, and delivery.
Hardened by default, independent by design
Kodachi has been developed independently since 2013. It supports air-gap installation with no network dependency at deployment, and accepts anonymous payment options including Monero where procurement constraints require it. A single native desktop dashboard, backed by signed Rust binaries, controls the full stack: VPN, Tor, DNS, encryption, identity, and 96+ pre-bundled workflows, from one interface. Open-source components are verifiable, and shipped binaries are cryptographically signed.
To discuss Dedicated infrastructure or a custom Kodachi build for your organization, see the Dedicated plan above or reach me through the contact options on this site.
Custom ISO builds and private VPS, built to order
Need a Custom Kodachi Build or a Private VPS?
Building a reliable, customized Live image takes real integration work. It has to boot cleanly from USB on ordinary UEFI/BIOS hardware, ship exactly the applications and configuration you need, and behave the way your team expects. If you have spent days fighting bootloaders, persistence, or package conflicts, you do not have to keep guessing. Kodachi can build it for you as a paid service.
Tell me what you need and I will study the requirement, confirm what is feasible within Kodachi's security model, and send you a fixed price quote before any work begins. Builds are produced for lawful, defensive, educational, and privacy-protection purposes.
Custom Live ISO, the way you want it
amnesic non-persistent Live (changes vanish on shutdown), or persistent / installable, your choice. The installer can be enabled or fully removed so employees cannot install to disk. The image ships with no personal accounts, browser sessions, saved passwords, or customer data baked in. Delivered as a single master ISO that boots reliably from USB SSD or USB flash on ordinary UEFI (and BIOS) PCs.
Your applications, pre-installed and pre-configured
a defined set of tools shipped ready to use, for example office suites (ONLYOFFICE), VoIP/softphone clients (Twinkle), anti-detect browsers (Dolphin Anty), imaging and graphics tools (KolourPaint), Android emulators, and similar workflows. You give the list; it arrives integrated.
Localization and language
additional system languages, keyboard layouts, and locales added to the build (for example Ukrainian or other languages alongside English), so the image is ready for your users from first boot.
Private VPN / VPS backend
your own dedicated exit servers, provisioned in the countries and with the providers you require (for example specific NATO-member jurisdictions), running the protocols you choose. Custom VPS is already part of Kodachi's infrastructure model, and exit country and provider are set at provisioning time to match your operational and jurisdictional needs.
Server DDoS toolkit included
Once your Custom Server assignment is active, the License Portal provides the signed Kodachi Server DDoS Defense Toolkit as a plan bonus. It runs standalone, opens an administrator menu, diagnoses by default, and keeps firewall apply explicit, capped, protected, and rollback-aware.
Hardening to your spec
configuration hardening, locked-down defaults, and policy beyond the standard stack, tuned to how your organization actually operates, without weakening Kodachi's core security posture.
Signed and deliverable
every build ships as a cryptographically signed Kodachi ISO. Offline / air-gapped delivery is available where procurement or operational constraints require it, and anonymous payment options (including Monero) are accepted.
How it works
- Tell me your requirements: the applications, languages, persistence behavior, installer policy, VPS countries/providers, and any hardening you need. A short, non-sensitive outline is enough to start, and I do not need operational details.
- I study scope and feasibility: I confirm what fits Kodachi's security model and estimate effort, timeline, and delivery format.
- You receive a fixed quote: transparent, per-project pricing based on scope, before any work begins. Custom builds and private VPS are quoted individually.
- Build, sign, and deliver: you get your master ISO (and any provisioned VPS), plus the support arrangement we agree on.
This is always possible, so reach out anytime. Contact me on Discord at discord.gg/KEFErEx, or through the contact options on this site, with a short description of what you need. I will study the requirement and send you a price quote.

About This Support Model
Kodachi has been independently developed since 2013, trusted by privacy-conscious users worldwide. This support model sustains development while keeping the same hardened OS and security stack available to everyone.
Same Hardened Core: All tiers run the same purpose-hardened OS and security stack. Free includes Lite Classic, Circle and every startup mode. Premium and Dedicated add the ColonyOps operations workspace, the top-level SOC dashboard, multiple profiles, persistent history, extra visual packs, and paid managed nodes.
Automatic unlock: Enter a Premium or Dedicated key once. The license service returns a short-lived signed claim bound to this device. The dashboard verifies the stored claim on every start and unlocks automatically while it remains valid. A missing, expired, altered, wrong-device, or unknown-key claim falls back to Free and shows Enter license key, Buy Premium, and Open Lite Classic actions.
Transition period: The product-gating notice remains observe-only through 2026-10-16. During this period Premium labels and prompts may appear while paid dashboard capabilities remain available for evaluation and bug feedback. Enforcement requires a later reviewed, signed release; it does not switch on remotely.
Security boundary: Paid managed-node and custom-server access is always checked by Kodachi servers. The signed local claim prevents ordinary JSON editing and supports up to seven days offline, but no desktop app can be made unpatchable by someone with root control of the machine.
What Your License Funds: Kodachi does not run a one-to-one help desk. Your license sustains continuous development, security updates, bug fixes, and new releases for the whole community, plus priority triage on paid reports. Kodachi ships extensive documentation and guides built for self-service, most answers are a search away.
Global Commitment: Continuous updates, best-effort VPS availability, infrastructure maintenance. No SLA or uptime guarantees.
Annual Licensing: 12 months of all updates, including across major versions. After expiry, the last ISO you downloaded keeps working forever. You only stop receiving updates and managed-node access until you renew.
Covers Major Versions: Your annual license includes every update for 12 months, including any new major version released during your term, at no extra cost.
Dedicated rollout: Dedicated orders go live immediately on Kodachi's premium low-density nodes, so you're never left waiting. Once your isolated dedicated server (or servers) are provisioned, your exit traffic routes through your own dedicated nodes.
Honoring earlier purchases: On 2026-06-21, Kodachi moved from per-major-version licensing to annual (12-month) licenses. Everyone who purchased before that date received a fresh 12-month term starting 2026-06-21, honoring their original purchase. And your last downloaded ISO always keeps working.
Supporting the Mission: Contributions fund infrastructure costs while keeping the free tier available for personal use.
Notes
Privacy-First Purchasing
There is no registration, no account creation, and no personal data required. Simply purchase a license key using any payment method that suits you (including anonymous options like Monero (XMR)) and receive your key in return. The license is annual and includes every release issued during its active term. Privacy remains a priority even during purchasing.

- For maximum privacy, donate directly with cryptocurrency
License Reuse and Device Transfer
Premium and Dedicated licenses are managed right inside the Kodachi dashboard, under About → Premium License: view license status, release a seat, and reactivate on a new device, no separate account or web portal needed. This is backed by the online-auth service under the hood.
- If you keep the same active installation on the same PC, no release step is needed.
- If you plan to reinstall on the same PC, release first on the current system, then activate again after reinstall.
- If you move to a different PC, release on the old device first, then activate on the new device.
- After release, the same key can be activated again on this PC or another PC.
- CLI equivalents:
sudo online-auth license-status,sudo online-auth release-license,sudo online-auth activate-license --key "YOUR-KEY".
Important: Kodachi is NOT a VPN Service
Kodachi is a Fully Hardened Privacy and Security Operating System, not a standalone VPN provider. It delivers a full-stack environment that combines:
- System hardening and security controls
- Privacy protections and anti-leak enforcement
- Network routing orchestration and verification
- Multiple privacy and tunneling protocols (VPN, Tor, proxies, DNS controls, routing modes)
Because of this, Kodachi should not be compared to a normal VPN subscription. A VPN is only one component. Kodachi is an integrated OS-level privacy, security, and anonymity stack.
